At toywizard.org toymaking is alive and well. From India to Indiana toymakers are using our fun to make patterns and plans to design, handcraft and mass produce toys that are current and trendy while delivering lots of fun. In our toywizard.org blog we explore the fascinating world of toymakers while presenting developments in the toy industry relating to toy issues, trends and styles. We hope you will enjoy the journey that ranges from harvesting fallen trees in the forests and groves of Ireland to the workshops of toymakers in Croatia and on to the marketplaces that promote and sell toys on a grand scale.
Toys are more than an objects to amuse a child or capture a sale from an adult. Toys are part of the play that is so vital to our health and happiness. And toymaking provides an opportunity to live and work and engage in life simply for the joy of it. The photo above is of me and my wife Cynthia A. Lewman (formerly Ciccarelli). Cynthia is the CEO of Toymaker Press, Inc., and prior to forming the company worked in design, marketing and business management for Hallmark Cards and Sprint. Cynthia spent her childhood in New York with a scientist father and graduated from the University of Syracuse. I spent my childhood living as wild as a racoon in the mountains of Oregon with a carpenter woodsman father and graduated from the University of Missouri in Kansas City. A large part of my career has been as a freelance writer-designer and as a designer for Hallmark Cards. Cynthia and I have happily worked together as friends on design and publishing projects for over 20 years and after eleven years of being close friends fell in love and married in September of 1998.
Cynthia manages the business and marketing while at the same time composing and editing the books and publications. She is my anchor and my muse. I research new opportunities for crafts projects and create the product designs, prototypes and illustrations. We think that we make quite a team and we are happy to spend our time together creating and publishing fun to make toy projects and plans.
